Weekend gun violence reported across the state


MORNING NEWSLETTER | Gun violence continued across South Carolina this weekend, as an 8-year-old Colleton County boy remains in “serious condition” after a shooting Saturday evening and two died in Rock Hill during a block party.

Police said they found the boy in a vehicle around 11 p.m. Saturday with life-threatening injuries, according to media reports. He was flown to a hospital and is said to be in “serious” condition. Also this weekend, authorities found more than 100 spent shell casings after reports of shots fired at a lounge on Ritter Road. No injuries have been reported.

A 44-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man died Saturday during a block party in Rock Hill, according to the Associated Press. Two others were treated for minor gunshot wounds.
