Vivian R. Blanchard SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Mrs. Vivian R. Blanchard passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the home of the Good Shepherd in Malta. Born September 19, 1908 in Exeter, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late John Melvin and Florence (Morris) Rowe. She graduated from Skidmore College in 1929 and returned to Skidmore as a piano instructor. While teaching at Skidmore she performed many concerts, including piano concertos with Prof. Louis Edgar Johns and Stanley E. Saxton. Vivian was a member of the Katrina Trask Garden Club and the Orenda Garden Club. She and her husband, the late Major Robert Dudley Blanchard, enjoyed traveling and spent many winters on Jekyll Island, Georgia. In addition to her parents and her husband, Vivian was predeceased by her son John Dudley Blanchard. A prayer service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). Burial will be in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Group, Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church, PO Box 582, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
