Local representative is against free feminine products for girls

HARRISBURG – A Valley lawmaker is fighting communism in Harrisburg by ensuring free menstrual products are given to high school students. Rep. Stephanie Borowitz of Clinton County, whose district includes much of Union County and Lewisburg, strongly opposes giving free sanitary pads and tampons to girls.

She told reporters that the legislation was “just another move by the governor and the Democrats to let the government take care of everything for you, which leads to communism. A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take it all away.”

Rep. Darisha Parker (D-Philadelphia), one of the bill’s main sponsors, said on the House floor that the intent is to support students. “But more importantly, it is also an opportunity to restore dignity to these women and girls who have gone without support for far too long,” Parker said.
