National logistics company expands Virginia footprint in Norfolk

The second-largest freight brokerage in North America and one of the largest third-party logistics companies in the world is expanding in Virginia with a new office in Hampton Roads.

Total Quality Logistics, which opened an office in Richmond in 2015, recently opened an office in Norfolk at 5700 Lake Wright Drive near the airport, the company announced Tuesday.

The company will add 100 jobs to the area, Mayor Kenny Alexander said in the joint announcement from the Hampton Roads Alliance, which markets the region to businesses. TQL Norfolk is hiring for entry level sales positions.

The proximity to the Port of Virginia terminals helped with the decision.

“Norfolk is an established transportation hub with tremendous opportunities for supply chain management and logistics,” said TQL President Kerry Byrne.

TQL connects customers with shipping needs and carriers with available capacity and service offerings. Founded in 1997 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company works with more than 140,000 carriers to create greater supply chain efficiencies for its customers. The company employs more than 9,000 employees across 60 offices in the US
