Student at Andover School named winner of National Merit Scholarship

ANDOVER, MA – A student attending an Andover school is among this year’s National Merit Scholarship winners.

Henry T. Ty, a Phillips Academy senior whose likely career field is medicine, was awarded a National Merit Scholarship to attend Tufts University.

The National Merit Scholarship Corp. on Wednesday announced more than 2,900 winners of the National Merit Scholarships, which are funded by U.S. colleges and universities.

Officials from each sponsoring university selected their scholarship winners from among the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program finalists who plan to attend their institution.

These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution funding the scholarship.

An additional group of scholars will be announced in July, bringing the total number of University-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients in the 2024 competition to more than 3,600.
