June will be an important month for the Mazzulla brothers.

The Utah Jazz announced several personnel updates for basketball operations in a release Friday. Among the updates was news that Justin Mazzulla has been promoted to the Jazz video room as assistant video coordinator. He had served this season as an assistant coach and video coordinator for the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz’s G League affiliate.

Justin is the younger brother of Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla. After a collegiate career in which he played for both George Washington and Vermont, Justin became a graduate assistant at Rhode Island (the Mazzulla family is from the state). He then joined the Jazz organization in 2023.

In his second season as head coach of the Celtics, Joe has led them to the NBA Finals where they now lead 1-0 over the Dallas Mavericks. While Justin may still have a long way to go to catch up to Joe on a personal level, he is clearly doing well for himself in his own corner of the NBA.
