Urcell Belle Louise Chamberlain, 99, a longtime resident of Beacon and formerly of Yonkers, died May 21 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

She was born on December 7, 1924 in Brinkley (St. Elizabeth), Jamaica, the daughter of Leanora Roach and Joseph Bromfield. She married Wilburn Chamberlain in April 1947.

Urcell moved to the US in 1978. She worked as a home health aide and eventually became a certified nurse’s assistant. She loved her vegetable garden, sewing, traveling the world and reading the Bible daily.

She is survived by her son Neville Chamberlain, daughter Claudette Jack (Joel); stepson Sylvester Chamberlain (Elaine); 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Gaston Bromfield.

Her husband, son Byron Chamberlain; daughters Kiren Chamberlain and Beverly Haye; stepsons Renel Chamberlain and Cecil Chamberlain; and sisters Annette Bromfield, Ida Thomas, Greta McLean, Grace Bromfield and Epsie Bromfield, died previously.

Family and friends will gather for a service at Salem Tabernacle Church, Delavan Ave. on Saturday (June 15) at 1 p.m. 7, in Beacon, followed by burial in her family’s grave in Goshen, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.
