The ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been an incredible season because of the way less experienced teams have challenged the stronger teams. Such a result was seen in Match No. 14, when New Zealand took on Afghanistan at the Providence Stadium, Guyana. Everyone expected New Zealand to win here, but the way Afghanistan looked that day was commendable. They defeated New Zealand on the field and registered a huge 84-run victory.

With this, Afghanistan has strengthened its position at the top of the group and will certainly pull through. It started with the toss, when New Zealand won the toss and put Afghanistan in to bat. The Afghan openers made it another 100-run stand. Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a brilliant inning with 80 runs off 56 balls. Afghanistan finished at 159/6. Chasing the score, New Zealand could not get going with the bat. Only two batters scored in double figures, and the third highest score was 10, which was an extra. New Zealand were bowled out for 75, and Afghanistan recorded a historic victory.
