Softball’s Cassie Feyh earns the fourth fan vote with the win for Senior of the Year

Wheeling, W.Va. – As the Wheeling University Athletics Fan Vote series entered its fourth week, it was time to honor the seniors. Four seniors went head-to-head across Athletics’ social media channels, fighting for your vote, and it was Wheeling University Softball player Cassie Feyh who would take home the honors. Feyh had a breakout year on the diamond during her senior year, finishing as the Cardinal’s most productive player at the plate.

Feyh posted some of the best numbers of her career during her senior season, finishing with a team-best batting average of .316 with two home runs and 28 RBI. She finished with multiple RBIs in six games this season while adding 14 multi-hit attempts throughout the season. Feyh’s success was fueled by a hot start at the plate, in which she hit .555 (15-27) with six doubles, eleven runs scored and eight RBI. In the final game of her career against Salem University, Feyh would finish things strong, going 2-4 with four RBI in the effort. She would have a pair of RBI singles, with her final hit being the 100th hit of her career, a two RBI single that scored Chyla Molenaar And Makie Paxson to secure the Cardinal’s 6-4 season win.

With that final goal of the season, Feyh became the third different Cardinals player to reach the 100-hit plateau during her senior season. Teammates Maddie Munoz And Anna Florczak a bull’s eye a week earlier, when Feyh ended a strong career. She finished in the top 10 in the MEC in doubles, placing 7th with 13, while leading the Cardinals in RBI with 28 and finishing second on the team with two home runs. Feyh’s .316 average was the second-highest mark of Feyh’s career, while her .377 on-base percentage was also good for the second-highest mark of her career. She graduated last spring with her bachelor’s degree in nursing, capping off a strong career in cardinal uniform.
