Blue-collar work is rising in popularity among Chinese young job seekers

The popularity of blue-collar jobs has soared among Chinese young adults as demand has grown and wages have risen compared to pre-pandemic levels, according to a report from a leading online recruitment platform.

In the first quarter, the number of people under 25 applying for blue-collar jobs rose 165% compared to the same period in 2019, easily outpacing the 62.4% growth in applicants in the same age group. This is evident from a report published on Thursday by online recruitment platform Zhaopin Ltd.
