The Girl Locked Upstairs: The Tanya Kach Story is a new Lifetime movie based on the true story of a girl named Tanya Kach who struggles with being bullied at her new school in Pittsburgh. When she turns to her captor as a friend and confidante, he takes advantage of her and eventually kidnaps her, holding her captive in an upstairs room and sexually abusing her for over a decade. After receiving permission from her captor to get a part-time job, Kach finally finds the courage to orchestrate her escape. The film previously premiered on Lifetime, but you can now watch it on demand with a trial against Philo.

Who is Elizabeth Slim?

Elizabeth Smart is an American child safety activist and commentator for ABC News. Known as a kidnapping survivor, she gained national attention when she was kidnapped from her bedroom in Salt Lake City, Utah, at just 14 years old. She has since spoken out about her experiences, written a book and continues to campaign for child safety.
